After wasting my time with Revolver last month, I was determined to skip RocknRolla. However, it just happened to be the only thing that Mom cared to see at the cinema a few weekends ago. Since she was paying, I didn't really argue. Glad I got over myself.Big time mobsters, petty crooks, junkies, loads of cash, and an irresistible piece of art all play an integral role in the too-complex-to-explain plot of RocknRolla. Just know that even though it's complex, it's not too annoyingly complicated that nothing makes a damn bit of sense.
I really wasn't sure what to expect. Like I said, Revolver was a piece of crap, and the trailer for RocknRolla didn't grab me from the beginning. So I went into the theater with exceptionally low expectations. However, they were quickly resolved with an intriguing plot, goofy characters, great directing and a pretty good soundtrack. I wish I could go into more detail, but like Snatch, there was so much going on that it's just not easy to describe to someone without giving too much away.
There is very little to not like about RocknRolla. I had a little trouble with very thick Brit accents in the beginning and sporadically throughout the film. Thandie Newton's haircut made her look like a bobble-head doll because her neck is too freaking skinny and long. And I of course wish we would've gotten a glimpse of this mesmerizing painting that was the center of all this craziness, but I guess it will be categorized as a mystery, much like the contents of Marsellus Wallace's briefcase.
I won't exclaim "Guy Ritchie is back!" like most have. If you make a couple of good movies, then a couple of crappy movies, then one good movie again, I don't think you have yet fully paid your dues for the crappy movies. Ritchie's next venture could be a stinking pile of crap. It may just be a back and forth game till he retires. Only time will tell. But RocknRolla sure was hella fun.

I really liked it, too! A bunch of oddball characters, a lot of money, some guns, and everyone connecting on some crazy level can always be fun if it is done right, and Guy Ritchie did it right again. Maybe now that he is getting divorced from HER, he can concentrate on his career a little more.
I won't definitely say Madonna was dragging down his career, but it is a little suspicious.
